She served on her first Mission Trip to Maggoty, Jamaica, in the Spring of 2019 through her church where she still holds the record for most teeth extracted. This was one of the most rewarding trips she had ever taken and recalls the smile of a 6 year old the day after she had sadly removed her 6 year old molar as she came running into the clinic to give her a hug because all of her pain was finally gone. This is the kind of dentistry Dr. Detar likes the best; the type where you really feel like you make a difference.

Dr. Detar also served as a member of the Mental Health & Intellectual Disabilities Advisory Board in Centre County, helping to review and evaluate MH/ID needs and services to our local community. She has profound interest, understanding, and support for the need for better mental health services not only here in our county, but also for the entire world, and feels education and understanding is crucial for change.
