Meet the Team

Angela has been in the dental profession for over 20 years. She is a member of the American Association of Dental Managers and is Dr. Detar’s left hand (she is left-handed after all!). Angela is the building block of our office and her positive attitude and ability to overcome all obstacles make her an invaluable member of our team. She takes continuing education classes to bring the best dental care to our area possible. She fell in love with dentistry as an assistant before taking her place in management. Working alongside Dr. Detar to bring comfort, compassion, and education to patients while achieving their healthy smiles. She loves to see patients who are apprehensive about coming to the dentist overcome those fears as they spend time with the team gaining their trust knowing they want only the best for them. They are here to truly serve the community. She resides in Spring Mills with her husband and 2 boys. She has 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren. When she is not at the dental office she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Tonya grew up in the pleasant gap area with her parents and 3 older sisters. She is a 2015 graduate of Bellefonte area high school. She also attended the Central Pennsylvania institute of science and technology where she received her Dental assistant, radiology and infectious control certification. She has worked with Dr. Detar since 2015 and has excelled at patient care, orthodontics, and surgery. She is a pleasure to spend time with and Dr. Detar could not get through the day without her. In her free time she likes to spend time with her family and fiancé Seth. She enjoys tubing, kayaking, fishing, walking her dogs and of course shopping.

Sierra is our Expanded Functions Dental Assistant and has been in the dental field since 2015. She is a graduate from YTI Career Institute of York in 2020 with her EFDA. She’s a people person who loves working with and getting to know each patient. When she is not assisting Dr. Detar, she enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing and going to the gym.

Kaylee likes to spend her free time with her family, friends, and taking her dog's places. She loves being outside and going to Stone Harbor Beach. Kaylee graduated from CPI Dental Assisting Program and joined our team 2022. She has been a valuable asset to Dr. Detar and is furthering her career by becoming an Expanded Function Dental Assistant this upcoming spring. We are excited to watch her continue to grow in dental industry.

Gabby is a valuable team member who works alongside Dr. Bailey Swogger to assure our patients needs are met. Gabby graduated from CPI Dental Assisting program and we are excited to watch her take the knowledge that she learned and expand upon it. 

Melinda graduated from McCann School of Business and Technology in 2002 with an associates degree in Business Administration and a Major in Accounting. She has worked in dental insurance and billing for the past 12 years. Melinda is such an invaluable asset to Dr. Detar and our team. Melinda currently resides in Drifting, Pa with her husband Bryan and their two dogs Storm and Gunner. When not working she enjoys hiking, reading, and agility training with her dogs.

Hannah joined our team in 2022. She has been a wonderful asset helping with scheduling, insurance verification, insurance eligibility, and processing payments. Hannah is always happy to help our patients. 

Laura has been with Dr Detar since 2013 when she graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology Dental Hygiene Program. After that she continued her education to receive her Master of Health Science at Lock Haven University in 2017. Laura enjoys meeting and getting to know our patients to help with their oral health. When not working in the office with Dr Detar; Laura enjoys being outside and spending time with family, friends, her dog Shadow and cat Loves.

Maura is a recent graduate from the Pennsylvania College of Technology and is excited to join the team as a dental hygienist. She is excited to share her knowledge and help patients improve their oral health. Before becoming a hygienist, Maura worked as a meteorologist and has been storm chasing in Tornado Alley. She lives in Bellefonte with her husband, Travis, and their cat, Peggy. When Maura is not at the office, you're most likely to find her reading, spending time outdoors, and traveling to visit family.

Laura is a 2024 graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology, where she earned her degree in dental hygiene. She takes pride in providing individualized care, recognizing that each person is unique and requires a personalized approach. Aside from hygiene, in her free time she enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, cooking, and fishing.

Sherry is a native of Centre County and has lived here her entire life. She previously worked in the dental field for 13 years before buying her own business and switching careers. After selling the business she has come back to the dental field again. Sherry lives in Pine Grove Mills with herhusband, Ben, and her dog, Mazie. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, baking, kayaking, and exercising.
